RELEVANT - REAL WORLD - HANDS ON

Developing sound marketing strategies requires a careful analysis of competing resources, as well as the costs and benefits of alternate marketing decisions. "The Marketing Game" marketing simulation allows participants to grapple with how to effectively market an actual product in a diverse marketplace with both business-to-business and consumer market segments.

The Simulation: Working in teams, participants will experience, first-hand, the challenge of making profitable marketing decisions. Team decisions include deciding which customer segments to target, which distribution channels are most appropriate, how to develop a product according to customer needs and how much emphasis to place on marketing communications and/or sales promotion.

The simulation will progress through three levels of complexity, each considering additional decision variables. The increasing complexity of the simulation allows participants to gain a clear understanding of how various strategic decisions impact the market and the company's bottom line. Using immediate feedback on company profit & loss, industry trends & competition, and market research, participants have opportunities (over multiple decision rounds) to analyze their situation and then update and/or revise strategies in order to sieze opportunities and compete more effectively and profitably in the marketplace.

The Marketing Panel: Following the simulation, teams will discuss what strategies they chose and why. Then, participants will have an opportunity to ask a marketing panel questions about the specific marketing challenges they are currently experiencing.

The simulation combined with a follow-up marketing panel gives participants a powerful combination of hands-on learning and applied marketing problem-solving.

THE "SIMULATION" WILL TEACH YOU

How to identify target market segments you wish to pursue.
How to assess which distribution channels will reach targeted segments.
How to establish a marketing & sales budget.
How to position a company/product relative to the competition.
